Renato Ancorotti Appointed New President of the Monteverdi Conservatory: "Proud to Contribute to the Growth of a Cultural Institution"

Senator and entrepreneur Renato Ancorotti, from Crema, has been appointed the new President of the Claudio Monteverdi Conservatory in Cremona. The appointment was officially confirmed by the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini. Ancorotti succeeds musicologist Pietro Zappalà at the helm of the higher education institution at a pivotal moment in its development, marked by the planned relocation to Palazzo Magio Grasselli and the ongoing consolidation of Italy's AFAM (Higher Education in the Arts, Music and Dance) system.

"The role of a president is to secure resources and develop strategies that help a cultural institution grow. I do not intervene in artistic or technical decisions, which are the responsibility of the musicologists, faculty members and the Director. My task is to create the conditions that will enable the Conservatory to develop and look confidently to the future."

The senator recalled his work over recent years in support of the Monteverdi Festival, for which he helped secure, together with Senator Paola Binetti, a permanent annual government allocation of €1 million.

"I believe I have already demonstrated my commitment to the city's cultural institutions. The difference between long-term funding and one-off contributions is enormous: when financial support is stable, it becomes possible to plan investments and shape the future with confidence."

Among the main challenges of his presidency will be overseeing the move to the Conservatory's future home at Palazzo Magio Grasselli and strengthening collaboration with all the stakeholders connected to the institution.

"I am committed to serving my local community and doing everything I can to support its growth. I will work hard to ensure that the Monteverdi Conservatory continues to grow, has the stability it needs to build on the excellent work carried out so far, and can achieve even more by forging partnerships, securing resources and providing everything necessary to strengthen a cultural institution of such importance."
